On this manic Monday I thought it would be fun to welcome two of my fellow SMP authors to share a little bit about themselves. Please give a warm welcome to Sarah and Shannen Brady.
Hi everyone and thanks to Christina for hosting us. Shannen and I are a mother/daughter team writing paranormal romantic suspense together. Healer is our first book, just released by Soul Mate Publishing and available now from Amazon as an ebook. We’ll have print copies out some time next summer. Our second novel, Sweet Fire, will be released in print and electronic format by Dreamspinner Press in early January. IT’S FINALLY REAL! SQUEEEEE!
It’s funny that I find myself so excited to have a published novel because I didn’t start on this journey intending to become a bestselling author (or even a professional at all.) Three years ago, Shannen went off to college in another city and left a gaping hole in my life. I was always one of those moms, completely over-involved in the lives of my children. For over a decade before that, Shannen studied Irish step-dancing and I made dance costumes, organized fund-raisers and produced shows. When my son became a black-belt in Karate, I sewed little school logos on his and every other black belt in the school. When Shannen left for university, I lost not only my kid but my social circle and my creative outlet as well. There were only so many black belt logos left to sew. Ridiculous.
Early in her second year, Shannen came home to visit and said, “Mom, we should write a book.” I always thought I would be good at that but could never come up with an original idea to write about or the nerve to make it happen. Turns out Shannen had all kinds of ideas but didn’t know what to do with them. I jumped at the chance to do something together, figuring as long as we were working on the book, she’d be forced to take time to connect with me among all the craziness of college life. Thus SBradyBooks was born.
Two years later, we have two books in the hands of publishers and five more in various stages of completion. It’s not in our nature to do things half-way so we’ve immersed ourselves in the whole fiction-writing experience, going to conferences and doing speaking engagements on partner writing and publishing. Go big or go home, right? It’s been such a rush and we’re both looking forward to the rest of the journey together.
Alexandra Grayson is an empathic healer, flying under the radar as a Spokane Valley EMT. Protecting her family’s secret from Homeland Security’s Gifted Agenda and the bigotry of a fearful populace is the most important thing to her. Getting close to men, especially super sexy cops, isn’t an option.
Tyler Kincaid is a man who knows what he wants, and what he wants is Alex. When she outs herself as Gifted by healing a child, Tyler helps her escape, but even his love is not enough to protect her. When Alex is taken by HOMSEC agents, Tyler has to lead a motley collection of Alex’s Gifted relatives in a daring rescue.
